The caretakers Mediating Effect of Psychological Empowerment on the Relationship between Job Environment and Job Satisfaction

Abstract
This study investigates how the mediating effect of psychological empowerment on the relationship between job environment and job satisfaction affects professional caretakers working at senior citizen care centers located in the metropolitan area of Seoul. The study can be summarized as follows: there is a partial mediating effect of the sense of meaning in terms of the relationship between social recognition and job satisfaction, a partial mediating effect of competence in terms of the relationship between social recognition and job satisfaction, a partial mediating effect of one`s own authority in terms of the relationship between social recognition and job satisfaction, a partial mediating effect of one`s own authority in terms of the relationship between job environment and job satisfaction, a partial mediating effect of the sense of meaning and one`s own authority in terms of the relationship between monthly pay and job satisfaction, and no mediating effect of the influence of monthly pay on job satisfaction when it comes to verifying the mediating effect of psychological empowerment. In other words, the psychological empowerment has a considerable mediating effect on the relationship between job environment and satisfaction. The study is carried out as an empirical study on the relationship between psychological empowerment and job satisfaction, and its significance lies in the fact that it has contributed to the theoretical development of the job environment. In addition, the importance of this study is embodied in the fact that it sets all three sub-dimensions of psychological empowerment as parameters and ascertains a partial mediating effect in the relationship between the three sub-dimensions of job environment and job satisfaction as a result.
